A guide to the Drone Inspection Survey Process
This is our guide to the typical steps in the process of us undertaking a drone inspection survey of your property.
Quotation
The process normally begins with you requesting a free, no obligation quote from us using our Drone Survey Quotation Request Form.
The form sets out the information we need in order to provide you with an accurate quotation:
- We need your name and contact details, so we can communicate with you.
- We need the full address and postcode of the property to be surveyed, so we can check for any flight restrictions and local hazards.
- We need to know the type of property to be surveyed, so we can be sure of quoting accurately.
- It's really helpful to have a photo of the front and rear of your property and we provide the means to upload these on the form.
- We need to know as much as you can tell us about your concerns and the reason(s) you are considering an aerial drone survey.
- Tell us about the timing and any urgency from your perspective too.
- It's also really useful to know if you have a front and / or rear garden and if they are accessible to us.
Once we have all the information we need we would normally provide your quotation by email within 24 hours.
Order
If you are happy with our quote you can submit your order by accepting the quote and telling us you want to go ahead.
If we're happy too we'll provide an order confirmation.
We ask for a 50% Deposit before we begin any pre-flight preparations, and you will need to pay this to secure your booking.
Pre-flight preparations
Our drone pilot will recheck all details before preparing a risk assessment and flight plan that takes into account any location specific contraints. He will also take time to understand any identified concerns you have regarding the property, enabling him to know where to focus the inspection to ensure that no areas of special interest are missed.
Drone inspection
After a safety check of the site our drone pilot will launch the drone and carefully navigate it over your property. The drone can be manoeuvred to capture images from multiple angles, ensuring no details are missed. The pilot can also see footage in real-time, which helps adjust the drone’s position for close-ups or additional images of specific locations.
Data analysis
After our drone pilot has captured suitable footage all the images and videos will be reviewed back at the office. They are examined by a Chartered Building Surveyor for signs of any damage or other issues, whether it’s missing or cracked tiles, poor quality work or areas in need of maintenance, repair, or possibly further investigations.
Preparing the Report
After analysis our Building Surveyor will compile a report with the findings. This will include high-quality images, video, notes on any areas of concern and recommendations.
Issuing the Report
Once the report is ready you will be invoiced for the outstanding order balance. The report will be issued following receipt of payment and our Building Surveyor will also be available to explain anything you are unsure of and to go over any recomendations for maintenance, repairs or preventive measures if needed.
